Marble Falls, TX: Baby Karson

A precious bundle.  A new baby boy.  Finally :)

Baby Karson was a little overdue and though mama was more than ready to have him, God held him off just a wee bit so we would be able to have a fabulous newborn shoot with him.  What a BLESSING!  I've said it before and I'll say it again.... I LOVE BABIES!!!

The purest of joy, the most magnificent, most spectacular, most soft and tiny but BIGGEST of gifts.  A baby.  Though Karson was a little on the older side for a newborn shoot, he did wonderfully!  He was a bit of a squirmy wormy but a healthy nurser and a smiler to boot :)

Thanks Jess and Ben for allowing me to share this beautiful moment with you!

The many faces of baby K....  gotta LOVE the newborn crossy-eyes, teehee!

I think this is my ABSOLUTE favorite of the set!!!

Mom brought the CUTEST little "blanket" for the shoot :)

Isn't he GORGEOUS?!?!?!?!

Baby feet and fannies, my favorite!

New Year, New Life, New Challenges, New Joys

I have been quite absent.  Things have changed quite a bit since I've returned from our vacation (which still is yet to be blogged). :(  I have now taken on another child to homeschool.  My fabulous niece from New Mexico.  She is a complete joy but still added responsibility.  She came last week and we've been a little scattered getting prepared for her sudden arrival.

I FINALLY was able to upload my new photo editing program, Photoshop Elements 9 (as I will be shortening to PSE9) after needing to spend hours deleting old photos and files, moving old photos and files and generally pulling my hair out to make the necessary room on the drive I have to use.  I had another drive I thought would work but I guess PSE9 decided otherwise :O.  I also purchased a mega texture bundle and ALL the goodies for PSE from Paint the Moon Photography!  I LOVE Annie's work and have been dreaming of the day I would get to use them :D

As you also may know, as soon as I returned I was incredibly privileged to have a baby session with Karson :)  FUN!!!!!!  He was a tad older than would have been best so he didn't sleep as much as I would have liked and was quite the wiggle worm but a WONDERFULLY patient little guy and we had loads of fun.

I have been working diligently on his images and the goal is to have them blogged tonight.  I am finding that playing with the actions and textures is going to be sooooo rewarding!  I just have to pick and choose what images and what things I'll do this time.  Gotta get this done!  Not much time to play.

Here is a little sampling of some fun with the program and a few different textures.  Nope, not Paint the Moon but fun none-the-less :)  This is a quickie cell phone pic going down the highway at 60+ mph?  Not bad once you add a little UMPH to it, lol!!!!

Marble Falls, Texas, Sweet Berry Farm; Stanley Family

Her smile lights up a room, his lights up hers.  They are a precious couple that have recently added a sweet little one to their family.  Some of you may remember the baby shoot that I had the EXTREME pleasure of doing just a few months ago.  Well, we decided to do some family shots this time and WHAT a BLAST we had :D

Big brother is adorable and HYSTERICALLY funny, little brother, is cute as a button and sooooo squishable.   Sunrise, the wildflowers at Sweet Berry Farm, and fall weather..... it was HEAVEN!

I LOVE capturing people in "natural" mode.  Being themselves, enjoying life, the essence of who they TRULY are.  I guess you could say I'm not your typical, studio-style, pose 'em and shoot 'em, kinda photographer.  THIS is my truest joy....

BREATHE!

I think I can finally breathe! I have completed processing my last session. This has to have been my most favorite one ever I think :D It was of Baby K. It was only the second time I've ever shot a newborn. I was so scared! I felt like I had to put on a show and be the "professional" that knows it all and is perfect. What a mistake. I totally over-promised and under-delivered. Mamma is a precious friend of mine and she's so gracious, patient and wonderful. Jasmine is correct, in this digital age, why should someone have to wait for their images? I usually ask for two weeks. If I shoot for SOOC (straight out of camera), taking my time to get it right THE FIRST TIME and not have to do all my post-processing, why..... Why should they have to wait? ESPECIALLY if it's AFTER the two week period! Yep, I know.... I HAD to watch Jasmine all 5 days. I did, I HAD to!!! It was the best thing I could have ever done! Well.... next to delivering the images when I had promised I guess. I messed up. I didn't plan right. I know that God allows me to bomb so I can learn. I just hate the whole diving from 10,000 feet and going *SPLAT* on the pavement below part. UGH! Not a pretty sight :(

Today I start over. I am scraping myself up off of that pavement, gathering my guts (ugh, bad pun I know!) and moving forward. From this day on, I will UNDER promise and OVER deliver! I want to be that person that causes people to say, "Jennnifer!?! oh MAN, she's AWESOME! Not only is she a fab photographer," (dreaming here, this is my plan, OK?!).... "Not only is she a FAB photographer, able to capture a smile like nobody's business, but she gets the job done right AND she delivers before she promised to!"

Today starts my move toward that goal. Today begins my new life (OMGoodness, like that's the name of my biz!!!! total *ahha moment*) as a NEW, BETTER, HONEST, keepin'-it-real, photographer (that breathes of course ;) .

Baby K

Ok, so I haven't exactly been very active here this summer. It's been a crazy one and honestly, I'm happy to see it come to a close. What a way to close it :)

I got to do my second ever (shhh don't tell) newborn baby shoot today!!!! What a thrill :D Baby K was absolutely precious! We had some interesting moments but all in all he did GREAT! I could really get into this newborn thing, teehee! What a fabulous way to get a baby fix!
